Dd-wrt windows 7 printer
I have a similar problem, which only recently began. I have an hp LaserJet n networked printer with JetDirect print server. It was working fine with my Linksys WPN router. For some reason it no longer sees my printer or I am doing something wrong with the printer software. Any help would be much appreciated Your issue has nothing to do with this thread. Which was asking how to serve up a printer using the dd-wrt. When I installed the printer with no security settings on the dd-wrt it recognized the printer and worked.
Any help would be appreciated? Your more than likely on your wireless next door since you screwed up your encryption settings. BTW -- wep is no longer a valid method of securing your wireless network.. And again -- what does that have to do with this thread..
On wanting to serve up his printer using dd-wrt, your issue has nothing to do with that. Search In. Share More sharing options Followers 0. Other Windows versions will be about the same.
First things first: Make sure your router has one or more USB ports. Most inexpensive routers still do not. First, install the printer as a direct-connected USB printer on your computer if at all possible. It makes the rest easier.
I disabled USB storage support because I only have a single USB port on my router, but if you have two, you can enable that option as well. All that remains is setting it up in Windows. Click Start and type Devices and Printers.
Next, click on Devices and Printers when it shows up. Because we have used this port before, Windows adds an extension to the Port name, which is fine. Wait for Windows to try to detect your printer.
As our reader Micah has pointed out see comments , it is better to select 'Do not share this printer' here then click 'Next'.
